You might be one of those people who say "It would be good to have a video but I am not going to do it until I can do it right!" I can tell you this. You will never get it right! It is a work in progress and if you have your strategy right need not be a difficult exercise either.

Maybe a look at a few people who have invested in getting a video done would be worthwhile? Have a look at these Bureau sites and you will see a long list of your contemporaries who have done it. To see the whole list simply press 'Search' without entering any criteria.

In the April 2009 edition of Speaker Magazine from The National Speakers Association in the USA Jane Esparza (A US Bureau Owner) said

"The Internet has made the process of hiring speakers so much faster. A meeting planner does not have to wait for the speaker or the Bureau to mail a video, a DVD or any other marketing material." And when asked what gives any speaker the best opportunity to be selected she said "The video must show how well the speaker connects with the audience?" and "Shorter clips 5 to 8 minute sare preferrable...."

There is no thought given as to whether a speaker should have a video or not. We live in a visual world and we sell a visual product. Most people would say that not to have a video will seriously reduce your chances of getting business. But, don't take my word for it, ask around. And if you think it is not necessary then don't read any further.

But if you, like most, recognise that having a video is a vital part of your promotional strategy, then there are a few more questions.

• What should it look like?
• How easy is it to put together and more importantly
• how much will it cost?
